As a performer I work in a wide range of styles and play a number of instruments. My primary instruments are guitar, mandolin, and vocals, although I second on fiddle, bass (upright or electric), banjo, lap steel, and keyboards. Recently I’ve been focusing mostly on bluegrass guitar and tenor vocals, but I also have background in old-time, New England, Delta and ragtime blues, early jazz, bebop, funk, atonal music, Cajun, classic country, early rock n’ roll and rockabilly as well as indie and noise rock styles.

I currently live in Brooklyn, NY, where I front two bands. The first is the Buzz Buzz Tabernacle, an experimental noise-country garage band I formed with Leo Ferguson on drums and Jessi Carter on banjo and fiddle. We’ve made loud noises at Ace of Clubs, 169 Bar, the Parkside Lounge, the Baggott Inn, and the Apocalypse Lounge. My second is the Bluegrass Mob, a straight-ahead, rockabilly-inflected bluegrass involving a rotating cast of NYC musicians. We play regularly at the Parkside Lounge and have also played the Knitting Factory Tap Bar, Ace of Clubs, the Kings County Opry at Freddie’s Backroom, the Brooklyn Country Music Festival, and various private events.

I have done freelance sideman work with Howard Fishman, John Herald, Greg Garing, Josh Roseman, Jen Larson, the Klezmer Mountain Boys, and Matt Munisteri of Brock Mumford, playing venues such as Joe’s Pub, Tonic, Sin-e, Makor, the Howl Festival, Barbes, and Pete’s Candy Store.

I am available for private events, either solo or with an ensemble, sideman work, and recording sessions.
